This is not vapourware. It's gonna be released within a year or 3 and it's gonna be unlike anything you've ever played on a PC. Eve can't touch this game. It's gonna be huge and accurate with enormous planets that you can actually land on in realtime. The oly games that can pull that off right now are Elite and Zavtra Voina (Tomorrow War).

Yes, its true, I have made a tutorial on how to make explosion like effects in fumefx!
Anyway, this tutorial will show you how to create explosions using FumeFX.
FumeFX is a plugin for 3DS Max and is used to simulate fire/smoke like effects.

Yes, it is suppose to create that folder. The Afterworks folder it creates should be located in your plugins folder for 3dsmax. Within the AW folder there should be the fumefx folder, and in that contains the plugin files. Dont change it. If you messed around with it then a re-install of fumefx would be a good idea.

To make it a movie you have a choice. In the rendering prefs window, you first have to select "range" (and then the interval of frames you wish to use). Scroll down and check "save file", and click the "..." and select your file type. Now you could either select a movie file like AVI, so it renders all to one file or render every frame out as a TGA, and use something like VirtualDub to piece the footage together to create a movie. Image sequences can sometimes be more safe for longer animations.

He said his problem was because of a mistake of selecting it with the create tab open and not using the modify panel. Maybe you should check that too, make sure there arn't any sub-selections going on that may mess it up.

If you re-simulate it, then it will overwrite the old explosions data (unless you saved those fumefx files into a different location) You can always retrieve the old files, if you didn't delete or overwrite them with something else. Usually it will pop up with a message if there are already files there, and it will ask you if you want to use them or not.

I believe flash is more practical to use for animation than to photoshop. Photoshop does have better effects, but then again , its easier to animate in flash. They are both around the same level I think. Flash might be easier to learn faster though. If you want good effects and easy animation, you could use flash for the animating and a video editing program like after effects or something to give it some cool effects.

Sorry, I havn't experimented much with getting a nuke like effect. If you just want a mushroom cloud then that might be obtained by animating the temperature values from low to high to low again for an emitter, but I'm not sure. Perhaps making a nuke will be the next tutorial ;)

Probably, if I recall players will be able to start their own colonies so there will be many small things scattered about. I dont know if there will be "official" ones though that are made by the devs. oh and probably not fishing colonies :P...maybe something like mining though :D
